Opening and Welcome

Dr. Mariano Groiso - HIMSS Advisor for Latin America

Dr. Groiso kicked off the event by highlighting the importance of digitalization in the healthcare sector. In his welcome speech, he highlighted how technology can transform healthcare and improve efficiency in healthcare systems. He also emphasized the need for collaboration between different actors in the sector to achieve these goals.


Minsal's ICT Agenda

Dr. Ximena Aguilera - Minister of Health of Chile

Dr. Aguilera presented the Chilean Ministry of Health's ICT Agenda, which includes key initiatives to modernize the country's health information systems. She spoke about the implementation of the electronic health record at the national level, interoperability between different health systems, and efforts to ensure cybersecurity in the management of health data.


Welcome CENS and Universities

Dr. May Chomali, Executive Director of the National Center for Health Information Systems - CENS
RonyLenz, Director of the Master in Business Administration (MBA) Program with Specialization in Health, ISPAB, UNAB

Dr. Chomali and Mr. Lenz welcomed the attendees on behalf of the National Center for Health Information Systems (CENS) and the participating universities. They spoke about the importance of digital health training and research, and how academic institutions are contributing to the digital transformation in the healthcare sector.

This panel discussed the challenges and strategies for managing the change necessary for the incorporation of new technologies in the health sector. The panelists shared their experiences in implementing information systems and innovative technologies in their respective institutions. Best practices for change management were highlighted, including staff training, process adaptation, and the importance of effective communication during the transition.


Call to action, moving forward in the adoption of health information systems

Dr. Alfredo Almerares, Clinical Executive Manager, InterSystems

Dr. Almerares emphasized the urgency of adopting proven and secure health information systems to improve medical care. This panel addressed innovation in healthcare from the perspective of associations and CORFO. The panelists discussed the policies and programs that encourage research and development in digital health, as well as the challenges and opportunities for collaboration between the public and private sectors. Successful initiatives were highlighted and the future of health innovation in Chile was discussed.


How did we get where we are today in Artificial Intelligence? Theory and Applications in the Health Sector

Jorge Perez, Ph.D. in Computer Science, Microsoft Research Fellow, Co-Founder and Head of AI at CERO.AI

Jorge Perez provided an overview of the evolution of artificial intelligence (AI) and its applications in the healthcare sector. He spoke about advances in AI theory and practice, and how these technologies are being used to improve the diagnosis, treatment and management of healthcare. He also discussed the ethical and technical challenges associated with the implementation of AI in the healthcare sector.

Guillermo Borel, CEO AhoraDoctor - HIMSS Analytics Certified Partner for Latin America

Guillermo Borel presented HIMSS Analytics tools and services, which help healthcare organizations assess and improve their digital capabilities. He highlighted the importance of using data and analytics to make informed decisions and improve the efficiency and quality of healthcare.


The power of interoperability: transforming healthcare organizations

Martín Spangenberg, Product Manager, K2BHealth

Martin Spangenberg discussed the importance of interoperability in the healthcare sector, using the implementation of a nationwide interoperability platform in Uruguay as an example. He explained how this initiative transformed healthcare in the country and enabled healthcare organizations to take full advantage of the opportunities of digital transformation.


Experience of 4 transformation strategies in large Chilean clinics

Patricio Anguita, CIO, Copper Clinics

Patricio Anguita shared the experiences of Clínicas del Cobre in implementing digital transformation strategies. He spoke about the challenges faced and the solutions adopted, including the adoption of advanced technologies, staff training, and process improvement to increase efficiency and quality of care.


Panel: Technology as a strategic enabler for better results

Panelists shared success stories and discussed best practices for implementing digital technologies in their organizations. The importance of interoperability, cybersecurity, and data management to maximize the benefits of technology in healthcare was highlighted.

The panel discussed the importance of evidence-based digital health education and training. Panelists emphasized the need for educational programs that prepare healthcare professionals for the digital future. They also discussed current and future initiatives to integrate digital health into medical and public health education.
